ESSENTIALS

While Amazon is convenient, visiting your local Asian market can be so much fun. The snack isles are wonderful (when stocked properly). Before shopping online, try visiting your local asian market. You will see something you interesting each time you visit.

Essential kitchen tools we use in our kitchen all the time. Shop on our Amazon storefront.
  • Bamboo Cooking Utensils
    • When picking bamboo cooking utensils, check to make sure it's sturdy and does not have a coating or odd smell.
  • Sharp Knives
    • Kiwi brand: This is the quintessential southeast Asian knife. Go to your local asian market for better prices.
  • Non-Stick Cookware
    • Ours pots were bought at HomeGoods (other TJX shops). The one linked here is similar in design.
  • Benriner Mandoline
    • We bought ours when it was about $30 back in 2018. Prices has increased immensely since then. Careful to not buy knockoffs. I recommend buying only authentic Made in Japan versions. The quality of those not made in Japan and those made elsewhere is night and day.
